Kansas Democratic Party Chair Jeanna Repass to speak at Sept. 9 meeting

Jeanna Repass, chair of the Kansas Democratic Party, will be the guest speaker at the Sedgwick County Grassroots Democrats September meeting, Monday, Sept. 9, 2024. Repass will share what it was like to take part in the history-making 2024 Democratic National Convention Aug. 19 – 22 in Chicago. She will also discuss the upcoming election and present her views on the importance of breaking the Republican supermajority in the Kansas Legislature.

Repass will speak at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 9, at the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Building, 340 W. Douglas Ave., in Wichita, Kan. The event is free and open to the public. A social hour begins at 6 p.m.

Repass, an Overland Park, Kan., Democrat, has served as chair of the Kansas Democratic Party since Feb. 25, 2023. She was elected with the endorsement of Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly and the backing of U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids. She has also earned the endorsement of major party committees including the Kansas Young Democrats, the African American Democratic Caucus and labor unions. She was a member of the Kansas delegation to the Democratic National Convention along with Kelly and several other prominent Kansas Democrats.
