Dr. Neal Allen

Neal Allen, associate professor of Political Science at Wichita State University, will be the guest speaker at the Sedgwick County Grassroots Democrats August meeting, Monday, Aug. 12, 2024. Allen will speak on the “Harris Effect” ˗ the impact of Vice President Kamala Harris becoming the 2024 Democratic candidate for President of the United States ˗ and what it might mean for down ballot races in Kansas and the electorate in general.

Allen will speak at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 12, at the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Building, 3340 W. Douglas Ave., in Wichita, Kan. A Q & A session will follow. The event is free and open to the public. A social hour begins at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Neal Allen, Ph.D., has served as Chair and Associate Professor of Political Science at WSU since 2018. He researches and teaches about politics in the United States and Kansas, with a focus on law, elections and the politics of race. Allen is a regular contributor to local and state political media, and has been interviewed by NPR 1A, the PBS Newshour, the CBS Evening News, Fox News, NBC Nightly News, the Financial Times, and CNBC International. He has been a regular guest panelist on “Kansas Week,” Kansas PBS, from 2015 to the present.
