Volunteer Sign-up

Signing up to volunteer with the Sedgwick County Grassroots Democrats is a great way to get introduced to the political campaign process and to have a positive impact. We primarily focus on talking to democratic leaning voters, helping them to get informed, get involved, and get out to vote. This is different from candidate campaigns who need to focus on persuadable Unaffiliated and Republican voters.

What we do

We do community outreach at public events where we set-up a table or work the crowd with clipboards to register new voters and help others request to vote by mail. We also walk in parades and show up to public candidate events to show support.

We do direct voter outreach, talking to voters on their doors, on their phone, or in their text messages. Political campaigns have been thoroughly studied and direct voter outreach has constantly been shown to be the most effective tactics for persuasion and getting people to vote.

We work behind the scenes for our organization and for candidates. We invite a small group of friends to homes to come meet the candidate at a house party; we stuff envelopes for mailings in an office setting; write letters to the editor on issues or about specific candidates; conduct online research from home; and write postcards to voters.
