The Sedgwick County Grassroots Democrats meetings are held the second Monday of each month. Meet & greet begins at 6:00 PM. The meeting is called to order at 6:30. Guests are welcome.

Speaker: Joseph Shepard

Joseph Shepard is a dedicated community leader and public servant with deep roots in Wichita. He is a two-time graduate of Wichita State University, holding a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice, a Master’s in Public Administration, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Joseph is running for Wichita City Council District 1 on three core pillars: Economic Advancement, Cultivating Community, and Strengthening Trust between the People and Local Government. His call to serve is embedded in his DNA, but he answered the call to pursue elected office because of his strong desire to address the challenges facing District 1 and his commitment to working with anyone who shares a genuine vision for the district’s success. As Chief of Staff at Lead For America and a community volunteer with organizations like HumanKind Ministries and The Kansas African American Museum, Joseph brings a lived experience of resilience and a relentless drive to build a city where everyone feels safe, seen, and valued.
