Sedgwick County Democratic Women

What: Monthly meeting
When: Thursday, March 12, 2026 (The meeting starts at 6:30, but feel free to join some of us at 5pm for dinner and conversation)
Where: Felipe’s Restaurant, 3434 W Central
Our speaker is Patty Beamer. Patty has been a nurse for 33 years and is a small business owner in Wichita. She holds a BSN, MSN, and PhD in Nursing Education and Administration, with a professional focus on women’s health and mental health—because she knows the two are often inseparable. Patty is a mother of three, a proud pet parent to two fur babies, and a strong advocate for fairness and compassion.
She is currently speaking on behalf of nurses and working on legislation to update and improve the Kansas Nurse Practice Act. While the bill is still being revised, it is expected to be completed shortly and reflects her commitment to protecting both public safety and the rights of nurses.
We also welcome Kansas Secretary of State candidate, Jennifer Day who will be joining us. Jennifer is running to be the Kansas Secretary of State. She has been a volunteer with the Johnson County Democratic Party since 2019, the Johnson County Election Office since 2018, and served as the vice president for the local chapter of the League of Women Voters in 2023 – 2024. She is also a member of the Kansas Federation of Democratic Women, and the Greater KC Women’s Political Caucus. Jennifer also served in the Kansas House of Representatives from 2020 – 2021. In her professional life, she worked as an executive assistant for various corporations for 15 years before starting her own interior design and real estate investment business in 2013.
Hope to see you there!
