DESCRIPTION:SCDW meets every second Thursday of the month. This month’s meeting is Thursday\, February 12th\, at Felipe’s Restaurant\, 3434 West Central Ave. in Wichita(The meeting starts at 6:30\, but feel free to join some of us at 5pm for dinner and conversation) \nOur speakers will be Wichita-based community organizer and civic advocate Shannon Boone and ACLU Director of Policy and Research Logan Demond.  Candidates Jennifer Day and Marty Tuley will also be joining us so be sure to come early and get acquainted with our guests.  Please just tell the hostess you are with Democratic Women\, and you will be directed to our area at the back of the restaurant.   \nJennifer is running to be the Kansas Secretary of State. She has been a volunteer with the Johnson County Democratic Party since 2019\, the Johnson County Election Office since 2018\, and served as the vice president for the local chapter of the League of Women Voters in 2023 – 2024. She is also a member of the Kansas Federation of Democratic Women\, and the Greater KC Women’s Political Caucus. Jennifer also served in the Kansas House of Representatives from 2020 – 2021. In her professional life\, she worked as an executive assistant for various corporations for 15 years before starting her own interior design and real estate investment business in 2013. \nMarty Tully is a candidate for Governor of Kansas and is a fourth-generation Kansan with deep roots in our state’s soil and values. He grew up throwing hay\, chasing cattle\, and learning life’s lessons in the classroom and on the football field. His family is made up of farmers\, public school teachers\, and working folks who believe in showing up\, telling the truth\, and doing what’s right — even when it’s hard. \nSCDW dues are $30 per year. You may pay them by check at our meeting or on-line.  We appreciate any additional donations which we will give to help elect Democratic Women and others who share our values. \nHope to see you there!
