(Senator Moran’s office is in the Ruffin Building at 100 N Broadway) AND Chester I Lewis Reflection Square Park (less than half a block away – where Senator Marshall’s offices are located.)\nCalls to Action: Let’s level up our weekly protests.\nOn April 19\, American citizens will once again take to the streets across the nation to raise their voices and defend our democracy. In Wichita\, we’re doing this every week on Mondays and Saturdays at noon in the heart of Downtown Wichita. We want to do more\, beyond the protests and beyond the calls/letters/emails/visits to our elected officials.\nThis starts April 19. Inspired by our friends at 50501\, we want to include giving back to those in need in our community. We will be selecting local organizations to highlight each week who serve some of our most threatened demographics and doing what we can to collect donations of items\, encourage donations of funds directly to the organizations and promoting ways the community can get involved with each one. (There are SO many areas in our community who need support right now: veterans\, food banks\, mental health care\, LGBTQ+ and especially our transgender/GNC friends\, immigration groups\, women’s health care/reproductive care\, faith/religion resources\, etc. The list goes on….. some of these will be 1 week\, some may be 2 or 3…. .)\nHere’s a general timeline and we’ll update each event with that week’s information.\n\n\nSaturday’s at the corners of Douglas & Broadway\n\n\n12:00 – 1:30 PM\n\n\nNoon – 12:45 – Stand Up. Guests are welcome. \nOur speaker will be Peggy Jones-Foxx from the Wichita Black Nurses Association. \nI have been married since July 27\, 1997 to Marvin A. Foxx. Together we have one daughter\, Chelsea E. Foxx age 26. She is a graduate of Wichita State University as of 12/12/21 with a Bachelor’s Degree from the Barton School of Business. My husband is employed by USD259 for over 38 years. He is semi-retired\, and works at Chester Lewis. I have eight brothers and sisters\, and we are all very close. I have worked in medicine for over 30 years in Women’s Healthcare\, OB/GYN\, Labor & Delivery\, and as a Private Office Nurse in Reproductive Medicine in both Wichita and Kansas City\, Missouri. The last ten years I worked in Higher Education for the University of Phoenix as a Faculty Development Administrator\, Faculty\, and Regional Lead Director of Academic Affairs. I retired from the University of Phoenix September of 2017. I am currently the President & CEO of the Wichita Black Nurses Association since January 2022. I have worked in the Wichita Community in partnership with other Health Care providers. During the Pandemic WBNA worked with Sedgwick County Health Department to provide Covid-19 Vaccines. Recently with GraceMed to provide Lab testing and education regarding the 29th & Grove Chemical Spill.
