Guests are welcome. \n\nJuly 8 Meeting features Rick Steves’ ‘Story of Fascism in Europe’ \n\n\n  \n\n\n\nThe July 8 monthly meeting of the Sedgwick County Grassroots Democrats will feature a screening of “The Story of Fascism in Europe\,” an informative and compelling look at the rise of Hitler’s Nazi party in Germany during the early 20th Century\, which ultimately led to the Third Reich’s invasion of Europe and World War II. \nThe meeting will begin at 6 p.m.\, July 8\, 2024\, at the Service Employees International Union building at 3340 W. Douglas Ave. in Wichita. The meeting and screening are free and open to the public. Ice Cream Sundaes will be available for $2 each while supplies last\, beginning at 6 p.m. Additional donations are welcome. \n“The Story of Fascism in Europe” was produced and presented by travel expert Rick Steves. In addition to his many best-selling travel guides\, Steves is known for his popular PBS television show “Rick Steves Europe\,” a weekly public radio show and a syndicated travel column. His look at the rise and fall of fascism is an hour-long presentation initially presented as a special for “Rick Steves Europe” in 2018. The July 8 screening is by agreement between SCGD and ricksteves.com. \n“Steves’ telling of ‘The Story of Fascism in Europe’ is comprehensive\, well-researched and expertly presented\,” said SCGD President Gary Starrett. “It is very timely given the current political climate in this country and the recent Supreme Court decision on presidential powers\, and an important reminder of what’s at stake in the upcoming elections.”

Guests are welcome. \nOur speaker will be Peggy Jones-Foxx from the Wichita Black Nurses Association. \nI have been married since July 27\, 1997 to Marvin A. Foxx. Together we have one daughter\, Chelsea E. Foxx age 26. She is a graduate of Wichita State University as of 12/12/21 with a Bachelor’s Degree from the Barton School of Business. My husband is employed by USD259 for over 38 years. He is semi-retired\, and works at Chester Lewis. I have eight brothers and sisters\, and we are all very close. I have worked in medicine for over 30 years in Women’s Healthcare\, OB/GYN\, Labor & Delivery\, and as a Private Office Nurse in Reproductive Medicine in both Wichita and Kansas City\, Missouri. The last ten years I worked in Higher Education for the University of Phoenix as a Faculty Development Administrator\, Faculty\, and Regional Lead Director of Academic Affairs. I retired from the University of Phoenix September of 2017. I am currently the President & CEO of the Wichita Black Nurses Association since January 2022. I have worked in the Wichita Community in partnership with other Health Care providers. During the Pandemic WBNA worked with Sedgwick County Health Department to provide Covid-19 Vaccines. Recently with GraceMed to provide Lab testing and education regarding the 29th & Grove Chemical Spill.
